Interview with a cancer patient.

 

For my integrating activity project I wanted to take advantage of my communication abilities to be able to make a very interesting interview. Not so long ago my great-ant was diagnose with lung cancer that is already spread out through her body and it touched every member of my family. This is sad to say but cancer has been part of our family for generation, from my great-great grand parents to my close family and it is always emotional to learn how it continues to kill. For my project I want to interview her in order to make a closure on the subject of this sickness. This project is going to be a very emotional for me and the audience. I will do a very quick and straight to the point interview on the journey of a cancer patient which will concist on learning to know her and what her view of life are now that she is sick, of how it changed her view of life and what shes want to be remembered has. It is going to be my way of immortalizing her and show her to the world.

Everyone knows that life means accepting death and when you are face to it we never know how we can react. Everyone has a different ways to show their emotions and make choices in such devastating situation and for me it is about being able to make peace with sickness by interviewing a woman I admire, my great-aunt. I want to continue my studies in communication and the interview seems the perfect way to communicate something that I cherish and to show my passions about the art even in death. I think this project will be an emotional roller coaster for myself and my family but in the end I think it will be a very nice moral that may help people think about the fragility of life and to enjoy our life the more we can.

My project will have approximately 5 minutes long and I will try to incorporate her world, house, and pictures in order for people to get to know her more. I will set a really relaxed and soft music soundtrack and if it is possible I will ask someone to do it for me.  There will be a lot of voice overs and different visual camera techniques. I will try to experiment different techniques and by getting out of my comfort zone into something I never did before to express.

The shooting dates can’t be made easily for I have to see when she feels good to be able to interview her, it will probably be in a period of 2 days of filming and setting everything the rest is going to be up to me to edit and create the best I can.

April      =      Post-production

Required Materials/Software/Permissions

I am going to book a camera for 2 consecutive days. I will need a canon T2I, 2 set of lights, 2 recorders, a camera stabilizer and different lenses if possible a 80 – 100 and a 50mm. In the aspect of service I may need a make up artist but I’m still unsure.  She will use her own clothing. Final Cut and DVD Studio Pro software will be needed.
